The Guthrie County Fair starts on Wednesday.
Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Program Director Shelby Van Horn says that while the Extension usually helps organize the 4-H events during the fair, they also have a new thing that they are doing this year. She mentions that they will be having a coloring contest throughout the fair for individuals to compete in.
Van Horn explains that the contest will be broken up by age groups, with the Clover Kids (kindergarten through third grade), junior (fourth through sixth grade), intermediate (seventh and eighth grade), senior (ninth through twelfth grade), and adults (18 years or older). She adds that those taking part in the coloring contest will need to turn their pages in by noon on September 1st.
