A fun-family event is happening today in Perry to celebrate the wide amount of cultures in the community.
Hispanics United for Perry is welcoming people out to Pattee Park for the annual Latino Festival. Board Member Lynsi Pasutti highlights the day will feature a parade, going on along 12th Street and Willis Avenue by the Hamlin Bell Apartments, then the majority of the activities will take place at Pattee Park from 11am-7pm. She encourages people to swing by as a way to recognize the cultural diversity in Perry.
“It’s just a fun day with live music and performances (and) of course really excellent food. We get a taste of that at the 4th of July (celebration) and a lot of those vendors come back for the Latino Festival. Again, I say this for 4th of July, if you leave hungry that’s on you.”
Pasutti illustrates that a variety of dance groups will perform throughout the day, then there will be a petting zoo, balloon art, bubbles, face painting, pinatas, and live music. She explains that HUP will honor the Perry Volunteer Fire Department as the Standout Partner in the Community, as close to 30 vendors will make an appearance at the festival.
