The 2025 Guthrie County Fair begins this week.
Guthrie County Fair Board member Tyler Carney says that the Fair Board is excited to get things started this year, with all the regular 4-H and FFA events, as well as events put on by the Board as well. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio about the largest of those events, which take place over the weekend.
“We’ve got three main grandstand events this year, which would be the Grand River Rodeo on Friday evening and the Western Iowa Shootout Figure 8 races on Saturday. And then we have Tyler Richton and the High Bank Boys coming.”
Carney mentions that part of the decision making that goes into picking events is feedback from those that attend the previous year’s fair. He adds that the Grand River Rodeo has been a crowd pleasing event for a few decades, but that this will be their final year. Carney explains that the Figure 8 Races have also been big events the last few years of the fair, and that Tyler Richton and the High Bank Boys were very popular last year with fairgoers, so the Board decided to have them back this year as well on Sunday night.
