After practicing and scrimmaging in recent weeks, the Paton-Churdan volleyball team and Greene County squads in volleyball, cross-country, and football, will get competition underway this week that counts on the season record.

The Rockets are under the direction on new head coach Nikki Uebel. They’ll open on Tuesday vs. Collins-Maxwell in Churdan, then play in Storm Lake vs. St. Mary’s on Thursday.

Greene County volleyball goes to Dallas Center-Grimes High School on Tuesday for a season opening quadrangular vs. DC-G, Ballard (Huxley), and Valley of West Des Moines. Chris Heisterkamp is the head coach of the Rams.

The cross-country girls and boys’ open up on Thursday at the Gowrie Golf Course for the Southeast Valley Coed Invitational. Jeff Lamoureux is the head coach of the girls and boys.

Caden Duncan leads the Rams in football. Their first game is Friday in Boone vs. the Toreadors on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. with kickoff at 7 o’clock.
