In their August meeting, the Panorama School Board approved a purchase to help their transportation fleet.
Superintendent Kasey Huebner says that the Board approved buying two 2019 buses and adding them to their fleet to replace two older buses. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they were able to do this in a very financially responsible way.
“We’re actually trying to save some taxpayer money, and buying two buses for the price of half of a bus. So we’re buying two five year old buses from Wayne Community School District. That doesn’t come along too often, where school districts can buy a used bus. This was a situation where we had the opportunity, and we moved forward to really use taxpayer dollars wisely, and that’s (what) our board wanted us to do. They (Wayne Community School District) were leasing buses and now they’re not, and we were able to buy their buses because they have too many.”
Huebner mentions that these new buses will be added to the rotation of buses used for activities. He adds that this allows the other buses to continue being used for student pick up and drop off, and also allow them to take some more time before they have to purchase a new bus.
