The Greene County Community Players invites everyone to Spring Lake Park this Saturday for the 3rd Annual Radio Show.
Director Josh Tuel says there will be five different radio programs, including “Fibber McGee and Molly,” “Superman,” The Bickersons,” “Who’s On First,” and “Father Knows Best.” He explains that he uses a public domain database to find actual radio shows.
“It’s essentially just a re-staging of what a radio show then would’ve looked like. And the other important thing to remember about this is that these are the original radio scripts from the 30s (and) 40s. So some of the language in there may be considered offensive today, but we have to keep the scripts as they were presented originally. So, there’s nothing incredibly offensive, I can say, but if anybody does wonder about some of the verbiage used, it is the original script and we are not able to deviate from that.”
Tuel notes there is no stage blocking involved and it is done with the performers reading from the scripts. He adds that the program will be at the main shelter house at Spring Lake Park on Saturday at 5:30pm. There is no admission charge, but free will donations will be accepted and attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating.
