A public event relating to home ownership is coming up in Adel for the remainder of the week.

Dallas County Habitat for Humanity is hosting their annual Rock the Block Home Preservation event, which runs from tomorrow through Friday. Community Partnership Coordinator Lindsey Van Wyk illustrates that the organization works with existing home owners to provide critical needs and disability accommodations repairs. She says that home preservation is a tool for people to stay in their homes longer as well as developing the equity creation for the owners. Van Wyk appreciates the Adel community and is happy to be holding the event in rural Dallas County.

“Adel has been wonderful to work with. And so, we were just really excited to re-engage that community, really let them know again that Habitat is here and we are committed to being a valuable community partner in Dallas County, and in Adel in particular. And I have to say working with the (Adel) Parks and Rec, the businesses that are willing to come and volunteer for us, it’s just been fantastic, and we’re so excited to be doing this with Adel, it’s just going to be great.”

Van Wyk details this is a free volunteer event, with check in at 8:30am all three days over at Evan’s Park in Adel. She adds that there is zero cost to any potential home owners wanting to make a purchase, and they would just have to go through the application process.
