With the city council and school board election happening in November, the filing period is now available for residents in Dallas County.

According to Elections Administrator Emily Reidburn, the city council seats up for election for Perry include Mayor Dirk Cavanaugh, two At-Large, one Ward, and two Council seats, while Adel’s are Mayor Jim Peters, and two At-Large Council seats. She notes that 50 signatures are needed for Perry and 25 are required for Adel. For school board seats up for election, Reidburn points out that there are two At-Large Board Member seats available for both Perry and Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, as each school needs 50 signatures as a requirement.

Reidburn reveals that nomination forms can be picked up at either the Dallas County Auditor’s Office, 210 N. 10th Street, in Adel or with the specific city clerk or school secretary and nominations should be submitted to the Auditor’s Office, and school board candidates can return theirs to the respected school secretary. She concludes that the filing period is open now and will close on Thursday, September 18th at 5pm. Any questions can be directed to the Dallas County Auditor’s Office at (515)-993-6950.
