The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday night.
The Council set a public hearing to renew the current urban-revitalization district for the next regular meeting on September 8th, then held the Ludwig/Winkleback nuisance violation hearing, where said residents voiced opinions on the nuisance violations. No action was taken. The Council then heard from Compliance Officer Wes Clark, who shared that he had issued 16 notices via certified mail, and 29 verbal notices, which he had given until the end of the month before a second notice would be issued.
City Clerk Kris Arrasmith shared that she and Streets Superintendent Darin Sloss had talked earlier in the day, and that he planned on getting quotes for pool heaters for next spring, as one had completely failed, with another the same age as the failed heater, and a third that was having issues. She mentioned that Sloss had also reported that the streets department had spent several hours mowing this year, and were looking at new mowers due to that extended use.
Arrasmith mentioned that the pool was closed for the season, and that they had been able to sell most of the left over concessions to the Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center Booster Club. She also shared that there had been good numbers at the pool for swim lessons, and that she would be talking with the city attorney about a proposal from residents to vacate an alley for purchase.
