The school year has started, and Guthrie Center Elementary Principal Tandem Eischeid is excited about it.
Eischeid says that teachers were in off and on throughout the weeks leading up to the start of the year, and that he spent some time in the building helping where he could. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they do have some new material for the classrooms as well.
“We do have a new curriculum, so we’re hoping to grow in the area of reading and literacy. So I’m excited about that. That’s where a lot of our teachers’ focus has been this last week. We got some sample units at the end of last year. So we’ve been focusing on this since May. So we knew it was coming, and we’ve been working hard over the summer to get acquainted with that.”
Eischeid mentions that in the week leading up to the school year, both GC Elementary and Adair – Casey Elementary staff were able to get together for a professional development day, and get a lot of good work in. He adds that one of his goals for the year is having great communication between himself and staff, as well as between the school and the community.
