The 2025 Guthrie County Fair begins tomorrow.

There are only a few things going on, but Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Youth Coordinator Rachel Muir shares that there are some new things going on this year. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they are continuing to do live fair results, but that the first new thing they’ll be doing includes 4-H parents.

“We’re actually involving the parents this year, and so we are doing a parent showmanship. So after every show and showmanship, the parents are invited in to do a little fun parent showmanship contest.”

Muir mentions that another new event is the 4-H’er of the Day. She adds that there will be QR codes around the fair grounds for people to be able to scan, and vote for a 4-H’er who is being kind or helpful, and results will be announced every day. The first days events include the Open Class Art Hall Exhibits being able to check in at noon, the Static Exhibit Building being open for check in from 4-7pm, and the 4-H/FFA dog show followed by the open class dog show in the show ring at 5pm. The Art Hall Open Class entries will be in place at the Art Hall Building beginning at 7:30pm.
