Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School has been partnering with the Waukee School District for a number of years, and Tiger senior Emma Popp describes how it led to new friendships.
Popp illustrates that she spent a lot of the summer involved in club swimming and ventured to her family’s lake house. She comments that her proudest moment during the 2024 season was placing 10th in the 100 meter backstroke at the state meet. Popp elaborates she’s enjoyed getting to know girls from Waukee High School.
“I think it’s a really nice and unique experience to get to meet new girls and share a common goal with them to have a good team. And then it’s fun to hear about their days, their friends, what their lives are like outside of swimming, and at their school, so it’s just a really good experience overall.”
Popp mentions that her personal goals for this upcoming year is to improve her 100 meter backstroke, then place inside the top-five at the state meet. As a team achievement, Popp would love to win multiple meets this season and bring more girls along to the state tournament.
The Waukee Team features two other ADM girls of junior Finlee Burns, who swims, and senior Eliza Schmidt, who dives. The first competition is set for this Tuesday versus Ankeny at the Waukee Natatorium, starting at 5:30pm.
