The Greene County Public Health Department invites anyone who would like to learn more about reducing the risk of the leading cause of disability and dependence for older adults to take a multi-week program.
Public Health Director Shelby Cooklin says “Brain Help and Hope: KEYS to Dementia Prevention” allows participants to gain knowledge on simple lifestyle changes to help decrease the risk for dementia, which up to 70 percent see as the result of a disease that there is currently no cure for. She states that attendees will get hands-on experiences, meet with local experts in nutrition, fitness, mental wellness, personalized support for lasting changes and connect with others who care about healthy aging.
The ten-week program takes place on Tuesdays, starting September 2nd from 3:30-5:30pm at the Greene County Medical Center Education Center. The registration fee is $20 and class size is limited. Contact Public Health at 515-386-3228 to sign up.
