The 2025 football season opens tonight for Perry in Ogden. The Bluejays and Bulldogs meet at 7P for the Non-District contest on KDLS.
This will be the fifth straight year these two clubs share the gridiron. Perry won 23-6 last year, but Ogden has won three of the last four matchups.
The Bluejays are coming off a strong offensive performance in their 24 minute scrimmage against Nodaway Valley last Friday. Perry had 225 yards of offense with 119 of those yards on the ground. The defense also forced two takeaways against the Wolverines.
Tonight the game and stats will count for the record books. Ogden comes in preseason ranked 13th in the 1A polls. Both squads ended 2024 2-7. The Bulldogs return a healthy amount of starters on both sides of the ball. Cejay Jones enters year two as the starting quarterback for Ogden. He threw for nearly 1800 yards as a junior. Cayden Dudley is the top RB returning after rushing for nearly 500 yards last year. Tyler Lass, Jones’ favorite target, had over 500 receiving yards as a freshman and will be a focal point of the Bulldog attack.
Josh Vannornam knows his defense will be tested tonight.
“I think the game plan for defensively is just you know playing sound and we have a lot of good skill guys that are capable of doing the job. It’s just you know one missed assignment can cause a touchdown. They’re pass heavy it sounds like so we got to be preparing for that.”
Kickoff is set for 7P with the Perry Hy-Vee Pregame show at 6P on 94.3, 99.7, and AM 1310 KDLS.
