The Carnegie Library Museum in Perry is inviting guests out to a special exhibit during the month of September.
Library Clerk Alex Tasler tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Carnegie is holding a Banned Book display in replacement of the Bonnie and Clyde Exhibit that they were planning to have. She describes that the library was in contact with a specialist for the Bonnie and Clyde Exhibit, but they never heard back, so they shifted their programming. Tasler is hoping to gather content together and is anticipating offering the Bonnie and Clyde Exhibit next year. Tasler details how the display is going to be.
“We have a collection of banned books that have been banned or challenged somewhere at some point. And so we are going to display them with some information on the history of book bans and challenges in America.”
Tasler says the book display will be available throughout September and is free for anyone to visit during the regular hours of the Carnegie Library, which are Tuesday through Saturday, 10am-4pm. The library is located on 1123 Willis Avenue in Perry.
