Coach Scott Heitland and the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs football team officially kick off the Mustang football season tonight, traveling to Urbandale High School to face off against the J-Hawks. Kick off is scheduled for 7pm with coverage on KDLS2 beginning at 6pm.
With much anticipation on how the Mustangs will fare this season with the jump from Class 4A to 5A, coach Heitland explained that his focus is on playing good football, not worrying about the class difference.
“You know, there’s a lot of people that make a lot of fuss out of this move, and at the end of the day it’s still football. Are there going to be some things that are different? There will be, but when it really gets down to it, the other team is going to put 11 guys on the field, we’re going to put 11 guys on the field and we just need to go out and be who we are and and play the type of football that we’re capable of playing. If we do that everything else will take care of itself.”
