The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Football Team traveled to Winterset High School on Friday, putting up close to 50 points, as the final score was 45-20.

Both the Tigers and Huskies punted the ball in their first possession, as ADM got into the endzone on their second drive with an 18-yard run from junior Alex Jensen for the early 7-0 lead. Before the end of the first quarter, the Tigers extended their advantage to 14-0 following a 25-yard pass from senior Quarterback Hudson Shull to senior wide receiver Ethan Uglum. In the second quarter, ADM captured another 10 points with a 39-yard field goal from senior Colby Simons and a 1-yard touchdown run from senior Running Back Reed Obstarczyk after a fumble recovery from junior Defensive Back Eli Wiebers to branch out to a 24-0 lead. Shull was picked off by junior Linebacker Cru Hockett.

Winterset started the second half with the ball and charged down the field on their first possession, which began from their own 21 yard line, resulting in a 1-yard touchdown run by senior Ben Porter and a successful 2-point conversion made it 24-8. The Tigers responded with a 30-yard pass from Shull to junior Ben Plaisance to make the score 31-8. The Huskies got within 11 following a quick score and an onside recovery, then another touchdown to creep in 31-20.

However, ADM didn’t fold under pressure and two more touchdowns cemented their 45-20 victory. Shull completed 11 passes for 2 touchdowns and an interception for 149 yards and another 70 on the ground. Obstarczyk accounted for 2 rushing touchdowns as well as Jensen. Winterset junior Quarterback Carson Cook had 15 completions with 165 yards and an interception. All the Huskies touchdowns were from the ground from Porter, who finished 112 yards, Daxon Weeks, and Nathan Rivera.

Winterset falls to 0-1 and will be traveling to Creston this coming Friday, while ADM, now 1-0, will play in their home opener in Adel versus Ballard.
