The Greene County Community Players invites everyone to Spring Lake Park this evening for the 3rd Annual Radio Show.
Community Players Vice President Josh Tuel says this is a series of performances from the 1930s and 40s that were originally done as radio programs that are going to be done with scripts in hand, as it was done 80 and 90 years ago. Tuel is not only one of the characters, he is also the director and because this show has the cast reading from the scripts, it makes it easier on him for the logistics of the production.
“It’s a really low stress environment for me too. Again, another reason I look forward to is that it’s something theatrical that I can do that doesn’t take up a lot of my time. We rehearse twice a week for an hour each (time). And usually, I don’t even have everybody come for both of those nights. I try to section the shows so that the same people are coming on the same night.”
Tuel notes the five shows include “Fibber McGee and Molly,” “Superman,” The Bickersons,” “Who’s On First,” and “Father Knows Best.” The performance begins at 5:30pm, there is no admission charge but free will donations are appreciated, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating as there is none at the main shelter house at the park.
