The 2025 Adult Summer Reading Program at the Jefferson Public Library recently wrapped up.

Library Director Jane Millard says 19 people finished the program and a total of 335 books were read, under the national theme of “Level Up at Your Library.” She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that even though this three-month program is a “go at your own pace,” there were also several opportunities for group trips, gatherings and activities. Millard points out her favorite part every year is planning for the Adult Summer Reading Program and coming up with ways to engage and connect with the participants, while also challenging them to go outside of their comfort zones of reading.

“But really get them thinking and focusing on a different type of reading than they’ve done before, we don’t want to do the same thing. And they always comment that they’re so glad they did the program because it expanded their reading (from) what they usually pick. And they always comment about finding a new author or learning something new, and it’s great to read their comments, what they write about the books that they read.”

Millard adds that Margaret Hamilton won a prize for walking the most steps during the program and that everyone enjoyed being a part of it again.
