A contributing insect that plays a vital role in the food chain will be highlighted at the September monthly program with the Greene County Historical Society.
According to the Historical Society, Jeff Pudenz is a beekeeper with eight hives that house 80,000 to 200,000 bees on his property that is west of the city of Churdan. Organizers say he will be the guest speaker for this Friday’s program that will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 12:45pm. The Historical Society states that Pudenz will share how bees produce honey and how the harvest of the raw product is such an important part of Mother Nature, along with showing some of his equipment.
A lunch will also be provided prior to the meeting at noon for $12. Interested individuals can contact the Historical Society by the end of the day on Tuesday at 515-386-4408 to reserve a meal. The “All About the Honey Bees” program is free and open to the public.
