
On Labor Day, six teenagers were involved in a single vehicle rollover on Locust Avenue near Guthrie Center.
According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, the 16 year old driver of the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling southbound on Locust Avenue, a Level B road, when the teen lost control of the vehicle. The driver over-corrected, and hit a tree stump, causing the vehicle to overturn and roll into the ditch on the east side of the road. Two 16 year old passengers were transported to Guthrie County Hospital by Panora Emergency Medical Services, with one having been ejected from the vehicle, and both having possible injuries. The other three 16 year old passengers were treated for suspected minor injuries at the scene. The driver was uninjured, and the vehicle was deemed a total loss. According to the accident report, a citation for reckless driving was issued.
