Adel-DeSoto-Minburn senior Cross Country runner Rhyan Miller describes the strategies Head Coach Steve Brown and Assistant Coach Sara Schwertfeger uses to extract the team’s best efforts.
Miller ran a time of 24 minutes and 56 seconds in the first 5K of the season in Johnston on Saturday, and will continue to look to grow from that. Coming into the season, she was looking to mentally build on her motivation and improve her performances in the races. Miller reveals that Coach Brown and Schwertfeger constantly encourage the girls to reach their peak performance.
“They really like to push us to our best, and to tell us about how even though a workout is hard, it will be good for us to do, and that we should just try our best and that really is motivating when he gives us those pep talks before our runs.”
Now with the first meet out of the way, Miller will be focusing on trying to increase her 24:56 mark throughout the season. The Tigers are back in action on Saturday at Central College in Pella, running at 9am.
