Individuals looking to run for public office this November can submit nomination forms now.

Greene County Auditor Billie Jo Hoskins says for the Jefferson City Council, potential candidates must get at least 25 signatures, whereas for all other city council seats, they must get at least ten signatures, including anyone wanting to run for mayor, except for the city of Jefferson, which is not up for election this November, as it is a four year term.

As for the two school boards, Hoskins points out for the Greene County School Board election, individuals must have at least 50 signatures and for the Paton-Churdan School Board, at least ten signatures are required before potential candidates can submit their nomination papers. Hoskins adds that nomination forms for either the mayoral/city or school board are available at the County Auditor’s Office, or at your respective city clerk or school board secretary.

Hoskins says, the nomination papers for the mayoral/city elections must be returned to her office by September 18th at 5pm and for the school board elections, the papers must be submitted to the school board secretary also by 5pm on September 18th. The full list of the available mayoral/city council/school board seats, and who currently occupies those positions, can be found below.
