A couple of rounds of thunderstorm warnings Wednesday morning kicked in Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team coverage.
The National Weather Service first issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northeastern Greene County at 5:56am with radar-indicated strong winds of 60 miles per hour and quarter-sized hail as the possible threats. However, Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams reported that there was only light wind and rain before the warning was allowed to expire about 20 minutes before the initial time, at 6:21am.
Then, a second severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service at 6:44am for southeastern Greene County, northeastern Guthrie County and northwestern Dallas County. Sheriff Williams again reported only light wind and rain, while Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeremy Cooper saw some high winds, heavy rainfall and lightning that did not cause any property damage. That warning was later allowed to expire early for the portions of Greene and Guthrie Counties, before Dallas County was cleared at 7:31am.
Four members of the Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team were a part of the coverage, as well as Weatherology, Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams and Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeremy Cooper. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team provides live coverage of severe thunderstorm or tornado warnings for Dallas, Guthrie, and Greene counties until the storms move out of the coverage area or drop below severe levels.
