The three individuals from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School, who partner with Waukee for swimming and diving, nabbed first place finishes during the opening meet of the season on Tuesday as Waukee defeated Ankeny 106 to 80.
ADM collaborates with the Waukee School District for swimming and diving, as Tigers’ junior Finlee Burns, plus seniors Emma Popp and Eliza Schmidt contribute. Burns raced to first place in the 50 meter freestyle and 100 meter fly, while Popp notched first in the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 backstroke.
Burns and Popp were both apart of the 400 meter freestyle relay that garnered first place, then Burns was involved in the winning 200 Medley Relay. Schmidt, who dives, was able to edge out teammate Neelie Streit for the top spot.
Waukee is back in action on Saturday, as they travel to Mason City High School for the Riverhawk Girls Swimming Invitational at 10am.
