
Thursday night, the downtown square in Jefferson saw lots of people enjoying an event that highlighted the beginning of the fall sports season, as well as the interstate rivalry college football game on Saturday.
Jefferson Matters hosted the CyHawk and Rams Tailgate party where Executive Director Matt Wetrich thought it turned out to be an incredible success and thanked Home State Bank, Power Lift, Greene County and the city of Jefferson as the sponsors for it.
“We couldn’t do it without them and we certainly couldn’t do it without our volunteers either. So, (I) really appreciate all of the folks that came out to volunteer and get them with the inflatables, and help with the games, and all of the fun things. And thanks for everybody that made it possible. So, (it was) fun to celebrate the Hawkeyes and the Cyclones, especially that rivalry of course, celebrated the Greene County Rams and their fall sports, and we also had the P-C (Paton-Churdan) Rockets volleyball team on hand. So, getting everybody in the mix here and all the fun fall sports.” 
Wetrich notes that the winner of the raffle for two tickets to the University of Iowa and Iowa State University football game went to Kristin Russell He additionally thanked Home State Bank for the generous donation of those tickets, with the proceeds from the raffle, as a way to help sustain this event for future years.
