A local entity in Grand Junction was recently awarded state funding.

According to Prairie Rivers of Iowa, they received a $5,000 grant from the State Historical Society Incorporated of Iowa that is being used for inventory of the Lincoln Highway Museum in Grand Junction. Prairie Rivers of Iowa says Bob and Joyce Ausberger are the owners of the building that houses over 1,000 objects related to the Lincoln Highway and the development of highways in the state.

Prairie Rivers of Iowa officials say the inventory venture began last spring, with the help from the Field Services Program with the Historical Society of Iowa. From there, a defined method was found with the assistance from Angela Stanford, a collections professional from the Advanced Museum Services, to better organize the items in the museum.

Prairie Rivers of Iowa says the $5,000 grant will help kickstart this inventory, with the total cost of the project being $10,000. They add the goal of this project is to have a comprehensive record of all of the collections in the Lincoln Highway Museum, and where those pieces can be found.
