An Ogden man was recently sentenced to probation, after pleading guilty to an incident that happened in Jefferson.

According to court documents, 48-year-old Craig Arthur pled guilty to two aggravated misdemeanors for credit card fraud and third degree theft. Court documents show that he had two two year prison sentences suspended and was placed on probation for two years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. 

The charges stem from an investigation that began with the Jefferson Police Department on March 7, 2024. A victim notified police that her purse was missing and there was a fraudulent charge from the victim’s debt card. The officer reviewed the business’ surveillance footage and identified Arthur who had made the purchase. 

Court documents show that Arthur was also ordered to pay over $1,600 in fines, surcharges, court costs and court-appointed attorney fees, along with an additional amount for victim restitution. As per the plea agreement, the Class C Felony for second degree burglary, habitual offender was dismissed.
