A fun fundraising event for the West Central Valley School Supply Drive is happening this weekend in Dexter.

Linda Putney, the organizer, shares that the Cavalry Assembly of God Church is hosting a quarter auction featuring items from various vendors. She describes these events as enjoyable and great for getting many people involved. Putney explains that a quarter auction is similar to Bingo: attendees buy a numbered paddle, which corresponds to a numbered ball in a drawing basket. Items available include unique craft items, tie-dye clothing, jewelry, freeze-dried candy, and more.

Paddles are $1 each. The event will be held at the Dexter Roundhouse, with doors opening at 4 p.m. and the auction beginning at 5 p.m. Walking tacos, dessert, and drinks will also be available for a free-will donation. When the auction starts, a vendor displays an item. Those interested in bidding place a quarter in a bowl and raise their paddle. A number is drawn, and the person with that number wins the item. If the drawn number belongs to someone who didn’t bid, drawing continues until a bidder’s number is pulled.
