The Waukee School District, who Adel-DeSoto-Minburn partners with for swimming and diving, notched first place on Saturday at the Mason City Invitational, with great performances from Tigers’ junior Finlee Burns, then seniors Emma Popp and Eliza Schmidt.

Waukee accumulated 632 total points to win the meet in a pool of seven teams. Popp captured the top spot in the 100 yard backstroke (1:02.58) and was second in the 200 yard Individual Medley at 2:21.26, then Burns won the 500 Yard Freestyle at 5:28.55 and marked second in the 100 Yard Butterfly (1:01.61). Popp and Burns were both apart of the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay that tallied first place with a time of 3:52.85. For Schmidt, she managed to get second place in the 1 Meter Dive with a final score of 404.95.

Popp, Burns, and Schmidt will join the Warriors as they resume action tomorrow with a single match against Southeast Polk in Pleasant Hill at 5:30pm.
