Prior to the 2026 baseball season, there will be a new man in charge for Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School.
According to Activities Director Rod Wiebers, the school is announcing that Shawn Beenken has accepted the position as the Head Baseball Coach pending approval of the school board. Beenken has served as a varsity assistant coach at Waukee High School for the past 13 years, where he was honored with the 2024 Central District Assistant Coach of the Year. During his tenure, he has been apart of nine Warrior teams that have qualified for the Class 4A State Tournament.
Beenken is a 2011 graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Kinesiology and earned his Masters of Science in Education for Health and Physical Education from Northwest Missouri State University in 2024. His wife Mallory and him have two daughters of Hattye and Millie, and have resided in Adel since 2018. Beenken is taking over the position from Jason Book.
