The third-ranked Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Football Team will travel on the road tonight to face fourth-seeded North Polk for a huge non-district game.
The Tigers and Comets are both off to 2-0 starts as ADM has defeated Winterset 45-20 and Ballard 41-3, while North Polk has taken care of Lewis Central 27-24 and Newton 16-13. Through the two games, Tiger senior Quarterback Hudson Shull is 27/36 with 371 passing yards, marking 5 touchdowns and 1 interception, then Comets senior QB James Armstrong is 32/56 with 449 passing yards, compiling 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
North Polk won the Class 4A Championship last year, and ADM Head Coach Doug Winkowitsch knows his team will need to come out with some fire power.
“They’re always going to have playmakers, they’ve got some nice kids up front. So, once again, we’re going to really focus on us this week, and make sure that we’re getting all the things cleaned up that we need to get cleaned up and we’re going to go out and do our very best, and try to eliminate some of those mistakes, because if you have mistakes against a quality team and then they score off those mistakes, that’s a missed possession there, and that’s not a good situation. So, we’ve got to take care of the football (and) we’ve got to move the chains.”
The Tigers lead the historical series 3-2, but the Comets have won the past two games, including a 27-14 victory last year. The game is set to kick off at 7pm from North Polk High School in Alleman and Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF, starting at 6pm.
