Adair County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is looking for 4-H’ers wanting to participate in the Youth Council.
Youth Coordinator Caroline Savage says that the Adair County 4-H Youth Council is a crucial part of many activities for 4-H members, the communities of Adair County, and attendees of the Adair County Fair. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio about some community service projects they do as well.
“So it may not happen every month, but every other month. We did the Ignite the Spirit last year and fed right over 40 families in Adair County and provided a full holiday meal for them. The Youth Council did all the packing of those, delivering the boxes. So they really took a big part in that. We have done hygiene drives, toiletry drives. We’ve done back to school supply drives. So really giving back to the community.”
Savage mentions another thing that the Youth Council is involved in includes the 4-H Awards Day. She adds that they also plan the teen dance, volleyball tournament, pie in the face fundraiser and much more at the Adair County Fair. Those interested in joining the Youth Council are invited to attend their first meeting of the new 4-H year on Sunday at 1pm at the Extension Office in Greenfield.
