The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School Varsity Baseball Team will have a new coach for the 2026 season.

Activities Director Rod Wiebers announces that the school is bringing in Shawn Beenken as the head coach. He expresses that Beenken has seen success in his coaching tenure, spending the past 13 years as the varsity assistant baseball coach at Waukee High School. Wiebers shares that Beenken is married to Mallory and they have two young daughters of Hattye and Millie, and have been Adel residents since 2018. 

Additionally, Beenken graduated from Iowa State University in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and then went on to earn his Masters of Science in Education for Health and Physical Education from Northwest Missouri State University in 2024. While at Waukee High School, Beenken taught elementary physical education. He replaces former ADM Head Coach Jason Book, who was in his position from 2013 to 2024.
