Perry football searches for first win tonight as Woodward-Granger comes to Dewey Field. Kickoff is set for 7P for the two Dallas County clubs separated by ten miles. KDLS and the Raccoon Valley Radio Sports Network will have the Perry Hy-vee Pregame Show at 6P.
The evening is about more than just football as the Bluejays celebrate Military Appreciation Night. Mahlon Conaway, World War II veteran, will serve as an honorary captain.
The Bluejays are coming off a 48-7 loss to Boone. Perry completed just three passes in their second loss of the season. The ground attack heated up as the game moved along. Nadir Ouahbi finished last week with a career high 121 yards on the ground.
The Hawks are one of the top teams in 2A. They already have victories over Madrid and Greene County. W-G beat the Rams last week 35-19. They are led by senior QB Talon Fuson. The signal caller does most of his damage running. He’s already rushed for 384 yards and six touchdowns. Fuson has completed 11/17 passes for 151 yards when asked to throw the ball.
Head Coach Josh Vannornam compares Fuson to Geren Kenney and his role with Perry last season. The second year coach knows his team has an uphill battle tonight.
“They play fast football. They play sound football and they play very well. They’re coached very well by their coaches and I appreciate that.”
Kickoff tonight at 7P at Dewey Field for Perry and Woodward-Granger. The Perry Hy-Vee Pregame show will be at 6P on KDLS.
