The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) announced a list of 61 Choose Iowa Farm members that are holding open houses this weekend, and there are some in the Raccoon Valley Radio area.

According to IDALS, Choose Iowa is a statewide program that highlights products that are grown, made and raised in Iowa for food, beverages and agriculture-related items. Of the 61 open houses, IDALS lists seven locations that are being held in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area. Nearly half of those are in Dallas County, with Brewer Family Farms in Dallas Center, Picket Fence Creamery in Woodward, Spring Valley Honey Farms in Perry and Wills Family Orchard being the participants. In Greene County, Deal’s Orchard and Krieger’s Greenhouses and Greene Goods Market, both of Jefferson, are taking part in the open houses. The final participant, which is from Guthrie County, is Early Morning Harvest of Panora.

IDALS encourages travelers and residents alike to attend these open houses, with the opportunity to tour the farms and enjoy Iowa’s agricultural heritage. Those participating can also use the free Choose Iowa Passport to obtain deals and coupons at several of the participating locations. A link to the Choose Iowa Passport can be found at this link.
