The Greene County Development Corporation Board met on Tuesday in regular session.

GCDC Director Greg Piklapp said the sale of the former Aureon building that Midwest Mission was leasing from them, a contract is being finalized for purchase. He noted that the funding from the sale will be put into an account that will be earmarked to be reinvested into other sites for development. Pikalpp mentioned that Certified Public Accountant Ross Martens, with Martens and Associates, will be handling the monthly and quarterly financials for GCDC.

“One of the top priorities for us was the financials, was to streamline everything and to make things more transparent. And then also to, to make things up-to-date for 2025. And in that mode, we’ve decided to go with an outside company for our CPA functions.”

Piklapp then spoke about a traffic study on Highway 30 for a business prospect as part of a requirement by the Iowa Department of Transportation. He stated they came to an agreement with the potential business for cost-sharing and widened the study to include two miles on the west and east sides of the city limits of Jefferson and two miles north along Highway 4.

Piklapp then talked about an increase in GCDC’s social media presence on Facebook having an over 800 percent increase in traffic from August 11th to September 7th and that a new website will be up and running in a few months.
