The AC/GC Chargers volleyball team saw a successful Saturday this weekend.
Head Coach Caley Vaughan says the team competed in the Griswold Tournament, taking on the five other teams there. She mentions that the first two matches didn’t go the way they would’ve liked, with the team falling 2-0 against Southwest Valley (21-13 and 21-15), then falling 2-0 against Riverside (21-10 and 21-16). Vaughan mentions that the team battled through some challenges, including a few players feeling under the weather, but that both of these first two opponents played extremely well.
Vaughan continues that the team then took on Denison-Schleswig, beating them 2-1 by winning the first set 21-15, losing the second 21-18, and taking the third set 15-7. She adds that this really helped boost confidence back up as the tournament took a break for lunch. After the break, the Chargers took on the home team Griswold, beating them 21-11 in both sets, then defeated AHSTW 2-0, taking the first set 21-8 and the second 21-10. Vaughan explains that the team performed well in all phases of the game, serving, passing, hitting and defense, but that they also know they need to reach that next level moving on in the season. She adds that Stella Largent and Camdyn Richter were also named to the All-Tournament Team for their performance on the day.
