The Greene County Sheriff is clarifying his deputies’ involvement in an incident where a Boone teen was killed.

According to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. 18-year-old Camryn Stonehocker, of Boone, was in a pursuit with the Boone Police Department and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, September 6th. The DCI states that the chase entered into Greene County before 11pm on 220th Street, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office gave assistance. Officials say the pursuit ended just north of 220th on T Avenue, when Stonehocker got out of his vehicle and advanced on officers with a weapon.

The DCI report says one of the officers fired their weapon, striking and killing Stonehocker. The officers that were involved in the shooting were placed on critical incident leave, as per the department’s policy. Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio at no time did any of his deputies draw or fire their weapon and no deputy is currently on administrative leave.

The investigation is ongoing with the DCI and once the report is complete, they will forward it to the Greene County Attorney’s Office and the Iowa Attorney General for review. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
