The Panora Public Library will be starting a new group this month.
Library Director Molly Allen says that beginning this month, the Find Your Family Genealogy Club will be meeting every third Thursday of the month. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio what people can do when this new club gets together.
“The people who come and participate can use the computers and our Ancestry Library Edition program. And then also available to use the computers for genealogy research, we have our Community History Archive, which is archived newspapers going back to like, the 1860s. So that can be used for their research and also to learn about their family history. And that is for beginners or people who have been doing it for a while, anybody who just wants to come, research their family, ask questions, get to know other people.”
Allen mentions that the library also wanted to promote that they had the Ancestry Library Edition, and wanted to make it more available to patrons who may not have come in and used the system, previously. She adds that this is an opportunity for individuals who are starting or interested in starting genealogical research to learn more about how to look for information from those who have been doing it for a while. The first meeting of the club will be September 18th at 3pm.
