It’s Homecoming Week for Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School, as each day will feature a different outfit option.
According to Student Council Advisor Charity Miller, the theme for this year’s homecoming is “Tangled in Memories.” She reveals that there will be dress up days throughout the week, as today is Slumber Through the Decades, tomorrow will be Adam Sandler Style Throwback, Wednesday revolves around “Now Versus Then” (babies and senior citizens), Thursday is Color Day, and Friday is Spirit Day.
Miller highlights that the annual Tiger Fest celebration is happening on Thursday from 5:30-7pm on the lower soccer fields at the high school, where athletes will sign autographs, followed by a pep rally and coronation to announce the Homecoming King and Queen will take place on the football field, starting at 7pm. Raccoon Valley Radio will be live on site playing music at Tiger Fest Thursday from 5:30-7pm.
Senior queen candidate Haley James was happy to be named to the Homecoming Court, and acknowledges she tried to use good measures to select her classmates.
“When I was voting, I chose people who were nice to everyone, and so I hope that that was the reason that I was voted. That’s something that’s big to me, and I hope that other people view me that way too.”
Senior king candidate Hudson Shull says it will be a cool experience to be named the 2025 King, after seeing so many individuals growing up.
“It’d be awesome. When you’re a little kid you’re watching all those people when you’re at Tiger Fest, and it’s just cool to see them walk out, so I think it would be cool.”
The other queen candidates include seniors Anna Holloway, Genevieve Book, Angel Lin, and Jordan Crannell. The rest of the king candidates feature seniors Grayson Sutter, Wyatt Forret, James Finnegan, and Leyton Gerleman. Miller adds that the homecoming dance is happening on Saturday at the high school from 8-10pm, with tickets $10 each during the week, and $15 at the door.
