A Fort Dodge woman was recently sentenced to probation following an incident in Greene County.
According to court documents, 21-year-old Maya Benavides pled guilty to a lesser charge of an aggravated misdemeanor of operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent. She had a two year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for two years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services.
The charge stemmed from an incident that happened in February when Benavides had stolen a vehicle from the owner in Churdan. As per the plea agreement, Benavides had her original charge of a Class D Felony for second degree theft amended to the aggravated misdemeanor charge.
