One of the last major upgrades to Linduska Field in Jefferson is almost complete, ahead of this Friday’s Greene County High School Homecoming football game.
Superintendent Brett Abbotts says the contractor is finishing up installing a new track surface around the athletic field. However, he points out that just because the new surface is applied and is supposed to be done before Friday night’s Homecoming game, that doesn’t mean it has completely settled into place.
“For now, please stay off and please stay out and let it cure properly, so that our student-athletes have a nice safe track to be able to run on.”
Abbotts notes that after a few weeks, the track will then be striped and ready for competition. He adds that other recent improvements to the area include the high and long jump, along with the shot put and discus areas have been done with volunteers.
Abbotts says these upgrades are to ensure that for the high school track program, Linduska Field can be in position to host state qualifying meets.
