With Halloween coming up next month, the Perry Public Library is helping the community by handing out costumes to residents.
Adult Services Librarian Mindy Farmer outlines that the library is currently accepting costumes from children or teens that they might’ve outgrown or would like to donate to someone else. She emphasizes that youth don’t need to feel pressured to bring in a costume, and can simply pick one up for free. Farmer reveals that people of all ages are welcome to drop off their costumes.
“We have had adults bring their costumes before, but it’s mostly been kids costumes. People can just come into the library and we have these racks up and they can just take what they need and if they just bring (costumes) to the front desk when they have donations, then we can just put them up for other people. It’s worked really well, we’ve been doing it for a few different years, and last year we were able to give out a lot of costumes.”
Farmer explains that donated costumes should be new or gently used in order to give to others. She adds that there is no cost to donate costumes, and people are able to drop off and pick up costumes anytime now through Halloween on October 31st.
