County Road P-46 in late August
For the past few months, several roads in Greene County have been getting a new concrete surface put on, and the process is in the home stretch.
Greene County Engineer Wade Weiss says the road projects on P-46, E-18 and P-29 have all had new pavement installed on the roadways, with an additional drainage tile to be placed in the shoulder area, which will start next week. He explains that having drainage tile in road projects is a typical thing to do to stretch the lifespan out to 100 years.
“The pavement is thicker than normal. We’re dowelling all the joints. So, it’s going to be seeing a lot of heavy truck traffic, with the Landus facility just inside Boone County. Obviously, a lot of that grain will come back over to the ethanol plant, just north of Grand Junction. So we’re draining that in hopes that we can make this a sustainable concrete structure for a long time.”
Weiss adds that all three roadways are still closed to traffic until all work is completed. He notes that residents that live in the construction area have access to their homes.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams adds that they are going to continue to actively enforce those closures as this past weekend, close to 30 citations were issued.
