The Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center School Boards met in regular session Wednesday night.

Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says that the meeting started with administrative updates and it included an update of the new state law that doesn’t allow students to be on electronic devices during instructional time , which was delivered by High School Principal Cody Matthewson.

“Mr. Matthewson reported to the board that (it) is going really well and actually (there have been) very few phone issues at all. And in our other buildings, especially our elementary, there was no change. They were not allowed in those buildings to start with. But same as at junior high, it’s going well. And, you know, I think our kids are adapting and actually talking to each other a little bit more. So that’s good to see. So I think it’s welcomed and really helped our learning environment in every one of our buildings.”

Rasmussen tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Boards jointly approved a policy amendment regarding graduation requirements, and a School Budget Review Committee (SBRC) authority for modified allowable growth – special education deficit. The AC Board approved the purchase of a 12 passenger van, parking lot repairs, and an SBRC modified allowable growth for Limited English Proficiency allowable costs, while the GC Board approved an out of state trip for the National FFA Convention.
