There will be lots of construction happening within the City of Perry, beginning on Monday.

According to Public Works Director Josh Wuebker, the city was able to obtain grant money from a variety of sources in order to update the downtown area. He says the goal is to upgrade infrastructure with sewer and water, plus all roadways and sidewalks on Warford Street from 1st to 3rd Streets, and then 2nd Street from Warford Street to Willis Avenue. Wuebker adds that the contractor, TK Concrete, will also do some work in the alleyway behind Wells Fargo.

Wuebker notes that TK Concrete will operate like a moving work zone to knock out all the projects. City of Perry’s Marketing and Engagement Coordinator Chris Cohea explains that during the first part of construction by Wells Fargo, the parking lot on the corner of Warford Street will remain open and accessible from Highway 144 and Warford Street, while the work in the alley is being completed.

Cohea asks for residents to be mindful of the construction and plan accordingly. He adds that the whole downtown improvement project is split up into three parts, and the fluid timeline for the completion of phase one is tentatively scheduled for October of 2026.
