Tomorrow is the special program with the Greene County Historical Society, as they are going to be on location in Jefferson.
Organizers say there is a cemetery walk tomorrow at the Jefferson City Cemetery, with presenter and Greene County Historical Society Co-Executive Director Dianne Piepel. According to the organization, Piepel will highlight several gravestones of the past soldiers who served during the War of 1812, the Mexican-American War, Civil War, and the Spanish-American War, to honor next year’s 250th birthday of the United States.
One of the highlights that Piepel will show is about Rippey schoolmates G.S. Toliver and James W. Smith who fought with the Union Army during the Civil War. After their services, they returned to Greene County, where each of them married and raised families.
Tomorrow’s program is free and open to the public.
