The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Football Team pitched their first shutout of the season in dominant fashion on Friday, beating Bondurant-Farrar 48-0 to celebrate Homecoming.
Prior to the game, the Homecoming King and Queen were announced, as senior Defensive Back James Finnegan and cross country senior Haley James took home the honors. As far as the game goes, the Tigers were looking to bounce back after suffering their first loss of the year in overtime 38-37 to North Polk this past Friday, while the Bluejays were still seeking their first win in four tries.
ADM scored on their first six possessions, which included two rushing touchdowns from senior Running Back Reed Obstarczyk, two rushing touchdowns from senior Quarterback Hudson Shull, as well as two passing touchdowns from Shull to senior Ethan Uglum and junior Reid Kluesner to lead 41-0 at the half. On the other side, Bondurant-Farrar couldn’t get anything going, with punting on six of their first seven possessions, as junior QB Otto Jones fumbled on their own 32-yard line on the other series.
ADM’s starters were taken out at halftime and the running clock was put into effect with the deficit being greater than 35 points. There would only be a single score in the second half, and that was a 23 yard run by junior Alex Jensen, who finished the night with 85 yards on the ground. The final score would be 48-0 as the Tigers made the Bluejays punt 10 times during the game.
ADM’s Shull finished Homecoming night with 5 pass completions for 122 yards and 2 TDs, while rushing for 78 yards and 2 more TDs. Obstarczyk and Jensen both had 85 rushing yards each in the game and a combined 3 TDs. Uglum and Kluesner both got in the end zone once, as Uglum had two receptions for 65 yards and Kluesner went two receptions for 50 yards.
The Bluejays fall to 0-4 on the year and will play host to Gilbert this coming Friday, as the Tigers improve to 3-1 on the season, returning to Adel on Friday for their first district game versus the Boone Toreadors.
