The Perry Community School District is honoring Homecoming this week, as it revolves around a popular musical.
Student Council Advisor Brenda Mintun tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the theme is “There’s No Place Like ‘Home’-coming,” in connection to the musical, the “Wizard of Oz.” She shares Monday’s dress up is Dreaming of Oz, followed by Twister Tuesday, Wicked Wednesday and Volunteer Day, Thursday is Which Witch is Which, and Friday is Over the Rainbow, where freshmen wear red, sophomore sport white, juniors rock black, senior’s blue, and staff administrators wear grey.
Mintun reveals the Homecoming Court includes five king candidates with Jean Carlos, Santiago Puente, Gavin Gamble, Edwin Lopez, Mason Chapin, and Gustavo Drahos. She notes that the queen candidates are Hailey Bautista, Treasure Moore, Charity Parnell, Yamilet Gonzalez, and Montserrat Hernandez.
Mintun highlights that there will be a parade at 6pm on Wednesday, with a Junior Class Cookout in the Perry Performing Arts Center parking lot to follow from 6-8pm, and the coronation in the high school auditorium at 8pm. The Bluejays will then square off against Greene County on Friday at 7pm, with the broadcast on KDLS 94.3/99.7 FM and AM 1310, then the week will end on Saturday with the Homecoming Dance in the commons area from 7-10pm.
